It\u2019s 8:30 on a Tuesday morning at JFK\u2019s Terminal 4, and Amanda Batula<\/a> is between coasts \u2014 again. The Summer House<\/a><\/em> star, Loverboy creative, and founder of Amanda Batula Swim<\/a> is about to catch a flight to L.A., her second of three cross-country trips in less than a month. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing an insane amount of traveling,\u201d she says, settling into a couch at the Marshalls Upgrade Lounge,<\/em> a free pop-up space offering travelers snacks, a beauty bar, and a chic break from airport chaos through Memorial Day weekend.<\/a> \u201cI\u2019m actually really surprised with how well I\u2019ve handled it. Normally I crash after a trip, but I\u2019ve just been on the move lately.\u201d<\/p>\n

That momentum is something Batula doesn\u2019t take for granted. Not long ago, even routine parts of travel \u2014 packing a bag<\/a>, getting out the door, and making it to the airport \u2014 felt paralyzing. \u201cI\u2019d back out of things, or just lie in bed telling Kyle [Cooke] I couldn\u2019t even start packing <\/a>because I was so overwhelmed.\u201d After being diagnosed with depression and anxiety<\/a> in 2023, Batula began working with a psychiatrist and taking antidepressant medication<\/a>. Now, tasks that once felt insurmountable have become manageable, which means Amanda is saying yes to events, trips, and work opportunities that she would have previously passed on. \u201cI don\u2019t get overwhelmed, it doesn\u2019t take me a full day to pack. I can throw together a bag. It\u2019s just so much easier,\u201d Batula says.<\/p>\n

Between destination weddings<\/a>, business opportunities, and influencer engagements, Amanda is a certified frequent flier<\/a> \u2014 which makes her partnership with Marshalls feel especially well-timed. \u201cThe most stressful thing about traveling is getting to the airport, getting through security, and then rushing to your gate,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to have a place where you can just come and feel zen, especially if you\u2019re like me and don\u2019t have access to other [paid] lounges.\u201d In addition to the Upgrade Lounge <\/em>pop-up,<\/em> the retailer offers an online shopping hub<\/a> that features a collection of travel-friendly fashion and lifestyle finds curated by Batula to make packing<\/a> and on-the-go style feel a little less stressful.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The reality star, now in her eighth season of Summer House<\/em> (Batula joined the cast full time in Season 2), is well-accustomed to splitting her summers between NYC and the Hamptons, and is starting to embrace being a bit more strategic about what she puts in her suitcase<\/a>. \u201cKyle and I are notorious for bringing our whole closet, especially back when I was working corporate,\u201d she says. \u201cNow I try to stick to a few staples and plan according to the weekend. We\u2019ll get a heads up about what the events are and then do a little shopping.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

As for sharing clothes with her castmates while filming? \u201cI\u2019m always willing to share. Paige <\/a>[DeSorbo] will only pack for the weekend, so she doesn\u2019t really have any other options to share, and Ciara<\/a> [Miller] will always order clothes to the house and if you need an option she\u2019ll give it to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Batula and I are meeting the day before the Summer House<\/em> Season 9 finale aired, and naturally I ask about what\u2019s next for the series, which typically films from July through August. Bravo fans<\/a> and cast members alike<\/a> have been speculating about the show\u2019s future, including potential cast shakeups, but Batula doesn\u2019t have much to offer in terms of clues.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no news yet\u2026 but no news is usually good news,\u201d she says. \u201cWe typically hear from production the week before filming starts, and half the time we get the address to the house the day of. You don\u2019t even know what house we\u2019re driving out to.\u201d<\/p>\n

If past seasons are any indication, fans will have to wait until after the reunion episodes, which begin airing next week, for any concrete answers about Season 10. For those in-the-know, the reunion seating chart<\/a> \u2014 and who sits next to host Andy Cohen \u2014 can be a subtle signal of who played a central role that season. Batula didn\u2019t think much of it going into this year\u2019s reunion, which filmed on April 24, until she showed up on set and saw where she\u2019d been placed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was told by one of the crew members, \u2018Oh, Amanda, you\u2019re going to like your seat,\u2019 thinking that like I was on the end, because that would be somewhere that I\u2019d like to be sat,\u201d Batula laughs. \u201cAnd when I walked out, like being right next to [Cohen], I was like, I\u2019m either in big trouble and I did something really wrong or I\u2019m being rewarded. I think I was more shocked than everyone else that saw the leak of the seating arrangement. It was crazy. I was not expecting to sit there\u2026 but it was great for me. I had a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n
